The dangers of dealerships
Us dealerships often get a bad rep, and this article I came across the other day looked to push that narrative even further.
The topic was ‘5 things you should never do at a dealership’, and in case you don’t want to read it all, here are those things you should supposedly be avoiding:
- Don’t get comfortable
- Don’t show your hand
- Don’t say yes to the first car you look at
- Remember the test drive
- Don’t feel obliged to buy
They’re not the worst principles to live by when visiting a dealership – lots of companies out there do want the best deal possible, and will happily let you pay over the odds to get it.
But customers want the best deal for themselves as well. Dealerships (at least the proper ones) aren’t a ‘battleground’ like the article says, they’re a place for open negotiation.
If you never ‘show your hand’ to the dealer, how can they help you find your dream car?
Of course there’ll be dealerships out there who are a little unethical with their sales tactics, but not all of us are like that. Some of us have been honestly serving the local community with a family-run business since 1996!
So if you want an honest, scam-free conversation about the car that’s right for you, do pick up the phone or pop in for a chat.
