Less than a carton of eggs
There’s often a misconception surrounding electric cars that because they can be pricey to buy first-hand, they must be pricey to fuel and maintain as well.
But I’m here to tell you that’s absolutely NOT the case. Here’s a recent example to prove my point…
The other week I was talking to a customer who’d bought an electric car not long before. They mostly just used it for the work commute, a 50-mile round trip every day.
Although charging points for electric vehicles are now relatively common, you’d much rather be sat at home while your car’s charging, right? That’s what this customer thought, so they’d installed a simple home charger which they used overnight.
And given cheaper overnight tariffs, how much did it cost them to charge their car fully? Around £1.30 – that’s it!
That’s less than a carton of eggs!
And if you don’t fancy getting a designated charger for your car like this customer, did you know you can always charge it up from a regular 3-pin socket?
Admittedly this method does take a while to charge your car, but if you’re not in a rush, it’s a fantastic way to slash your fuel costs. And because there are far fewer moving parts in an electric car compared to petrol and diesel, your servicing costs are reduced too (all they have to really check is the brakes, tyres and battery)
Hit reply and let me know if you’re interested in going electric – you’ll generally pay less for a newer second hand electric commuter car than a diesel at the minute, so if you want to save some cash, you know what to do…
