How Can I Deactivate My Passenger Air Bag?
Carrying a baby in a rear facing child seat? Here’s how to deactivate your front passengers air bag.
DO NOT deactivate the front passenger airbag if you’re using a front facing child seat.
If not using the baby seat, activate the air bag once more.
What to look out for:
On different Ford Models the deactivation switch is in different places. If you have that was made before 2017/18, the deactivation switch will be in the glove box. If not, then it will be on the side of the passengers’ seat.
Look for the deactivation lock. It should look like a small circle You should look out for a small circle that says “Passenger airbag” around it.
Insert your car key. Turn it until the white mark points to the ‘off’ position. Next, turn on the ignition to see if the airbag has been deactivated.
On your dashboard, the airbag deactivation warning symbol should illuminate. This should indicate that it has now been turned off and is not in use.
UPDATED METHOD
If your Ford was built after 2017/18, you will find it in the SYNC 3 or SYNC 4 infotainment screen by following these steps.
- Click on the setting menu in the bottom right hand corner of the screen
- Click on the vehicle tab
