EV myth busting: cost

Call me a myth buster because I just wanted to dispel a couple more misconceptions about the cost of electric cars.

And if you’re considering going for one, it makes for pretty good reading…

People assume that because brand-new electric cars can be quite pricey, everything electric must be expensive. But if you’re not bothered about driving something that’ll get you as far as petrol or diesel, and you have the means to charge overnight, electric is actually a no-brainer on the cost front.

So if you only need a set of wheels for the work commute or the school-run, and you can charge at home, electric is perfect.

The used market for electric cars is growing and there’s loads of quality second-hand, nearly new, low mileage cars available that you don’t have to break the bank for.

For example, did you know we recently sold a 2021 Fiat 500e with just 11,000 miles on the clock and a range of 190 miles, with the customer only paying £218 per month over five years? Talk about cost-effective!

Or how about the Nissan Leaf another customer just bought for under £6k, that’s seven years old with only 19,000 miles under its belt?

The second-hand electric vehicle market really is starting to fill with hidden gems, and with much lower service costs, fuel costs, and monthly payments than petrol/diesel, I can see why so many people are making the switch.

Do you want us to run the numbers on a couple of models for you to see what you’d likely be paying if you went electric? Let me know if so, or if you have any other questions about the whole topic and I’ll be happy to help!
