25,000 miles on one month?!

If you’ve ever hired a rental car, what’s the highest mileage you’ve reached? 100? 200? 500 at a real push?!

Whatever the answer, I bet it’s not as much as this one man who rented a car in the States last month.

A TikTok user recorded a video of his exchange with a Hertz employee, after he brought back the rental car he’d had for a month with 25,000 miles on it.

Yes, you read that right – 25,000 miles in one month. That’s got to be, what, 800 odd miles a day?!

The Hertz employee threatened to charge the man with an extra $10,000 for what he called ‘excessive mileage’.

Excessive it may be (in fact, it definitely is) but the renter was quick to point out no maximum mileage had been mentioned in the contract he’d signed. In the end, the charges were dropped and the man received an apology.

I’m not quite sure how anyone manages to clock 25,000 miles in a single month, but we all know what any sort of mileage does to your car: wear and tear.

The more miles you do, the more likely your car is to get little niggles and grumbles that need sorting out. We’re lucky it’s been such a mild Autumn so far, but colder temperatures are coming and if you’ve noticed something’s up with your vehicle, now’s the time to sort it out.
